Cape Fear Cancer Center
In 2010 Manning Design Group was contracted by the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center to provide interior design services for the renovation of their Cancer Center and Cyberknife unit in Fayetteville, NC. Unique Concepts provided all of the casework for the project.
The project included a large reception station in the lobby of the facility. The client wanted a desk with great visual impact, and the design included a variety of different materials. Lynne Manning, president of Manning Design Group, knew that the project required a fabricator with specific skills and experience. “We had worked with Unique Concepts in the past, and felt that they could help us refine our design to meet the needs of our client”, said Ms. Manning.
The desk includes 3Form panels that required back lighting and electrical components. Sculpted panels from Koroseal are also part of the front walls of the desk. The transaction surfaces include quartz and a 2″ thick section of a 3Form material suspended on stainless steel standoffs. The finished project is a functional reception desk that is also the showpiece of the Cancer Center lobby.
The lobby also includes a small cafe and gift shop, and Unique Concepts created the cabinetry for that area as well. The designer and contractor appreciated being able to work with one company to complete the high-profile desk, as well as the more straightforward casework in the cafe and gift shop.
